Here are a few upper elementary halloween class party ideas that your kid and their classmates will have blast with!

Hi friends,
Happy Halloween! 🎃
Planning a fun Halloween party for upper elementary can feel daunting! I mean, these are older kids who aren’t easily impressed by a pumpkin coloring page and a witch hat toss anymore.
Upper elementary ranges from 3rd to 5th grade – so a wide variety of ages from about 8-12 years old. While these kids might be slightly harder to impress, they’re also older and not as hard to manage.
Luckily, a few simple (but really fun) ideas will still keep everyone entertained and happy!
This post is all about upper elementary halloween class party ideas!
Upper Elementary Halloween Class Party
My daughters 4th grade class just had their class Halloween party at school and all the kids had a blast!
The room moms for her class did such a wonderful job coming up with fun, age-appropriate ideas that had the whole class smiling and laughing the entire time. It was honestly so impressive!
I snapped a few photos to share with you so that you can recreate these fun ideas at your kids upcoming Halloween party too!

Upper Elementary Halloween Party Ideas
1. Trick-Tac-Toe

Super simple but the kids were having a blast playing this spooky version of tic-tac-toe. They split up into teams on each side of the table to play!
Supplies list:
- Washi tape – to set up the grid for the same
- Large purple spiders
- Large black spiders
Again, super simple and minimal supplies required – a total win!
Here’s the game in action:

2. Ghoul Juice Station

How stinking cute is this “ghoul juice station”? Kids get to make their own spooky drink to enjoy!
They had this all set up to where each kid could make their own spooky drink using chocolate milk or green Hawaiian punch, sprinkles, whipped cream and marshmallow fluff.
Supplies list:
- Chocolate milk/green Hawaiian punch
- Clear cups
- Sprinkles
- Marshmallow fluff
- Whipped cream
- Plates, spoons & sharpies
How to set this up:
- Prep clear cups with a smear of marshmallow fluff and then use a sharpie to draw a ghost face on the outside
- Set up plates with marshmallow fluff and sprinkles they can each dip the rim of their cup into
- Have a volunteer help pour milk or punch into each kiddos cup
- Top spooky drinks with whipped cream
This is one of those activities that you wouldn’t dare to attempt with a class full of kindergarteners but can totally do with upper elementary kids! ✨
Look how cute they turned out:

3. Creepy cool ink

No tricks, just tats 😎
They had a little corner set up where the kids could tatted up with some fun, spooky temporary tattoos. This activity idea is super easy and was a major hit!
Supplies list:
- Halloween temporary tattoos
- Wet paper towels
Super simple but totally fun!

4. Halloween Oreo roll

This game was wild!
You’ll need a longer table and a few cups filled with random sauces for this fun game!
Each kid takes a turn rolling an Oreo down the table to see which cup it lands in. Some cups have yummy things like strawberry syrup but watch out, because others have gross items like pickle juice!
Supplies list:
- Oreos
- Plastic cups
- Strong tape
- A cloth in case of mess
Of course the kiddos don’t have to eat the Oreo but it’s fun to challenge them to try!
Their teacher did the last Oreo and every kid was chanting for her to eat it – and she actually did 😱 The kids had a real good laugh from that one!
5. Halloween party food
What Halloween party is complete without a treat or two 🎃
I didn’t snap any photos of it, but they also had pizza and cupcakes for all the kids of course!
How to Throw an Upper Elementary Halloween Class Party
You don’t need to overcomplicate a Halloween class party – especially with a group of older kids!
It’s recommended to choose up to five station ideas that smaller groups of kids can each take turns doing. If you can, have a volunteer at each station to lead the group and make sure things run smoothly!
For kids who get done with their station early or don’t want to participate, consider having some solo activities available like Halloween crossword puzzles or coloring pages. You can also have a movie playing quietly in the background for anyone who just wants to relax for a bit.
✨ Be sure to send this to your room mom group to share all these fun ideas and see which ones you all think would be best for your kids class!
