I recently made these fun little printable tags for my sons 5th birthday. He was actually bummed it didn’t land on a school day because he wanted to celebrate with his friends too!
In our house, we have tons of way we make the kids birthday fun when they land on a school day! Since he’s seen big sister bring in birthday favors to school, he wanted to as well – so we did!
Personally, I’m a huge fan of any non-candy birthday favor idea when it’s for classmates at school. We thought sunglasses would be a fun choice!

This birthday favor idea is super quick and easy!
All you need are kids sunglasses in bulk, some tinsel yarn, a hole puncher and our free printable.
I was able to score these kids sunglasses on Amazon for less than $15 when I bought them (they had a 35% coupon at the time). Combined with a tag, they made such a fun and easy birthday favor!
These sunglasses are super cool and come in a variety of colors any kid would love! These are the exact sunglasses I bought and are shown in all of the photos!

Other Ways to Make Their Birthday at School Awesome
Like I mentioned earlier, we have a whole slew of ways we manage to still make birthdays fun – even when they land on a school day!
One thing we do that the kids always get a kick out of? We draw all over the car!
What!? Yup!
Using washable window markers, we write happy birthday messages all over the car! We even write a “honk twice – its my birthday” message that the kids love!
There’s always so many giggles whenever someone honks for them on the way to school, they love it!
