Hi friends,

Is your little one bummed out that they have to go to school on their birthday?

No worries, there are plenty of ways to make sure their big day is still equally as special. In fact, we have an entire post about just how many ways you can a birthday at school exciting! Check it out here!

Here’s one easy idea that will brighten their day – pack them a fun and magical school lunch! Let’s get into it!

How to Pack The Best Kids Birthday School Lunch

1. Make a sprinkle sandwich

Have you ever made a sprinkle sandwich? They’re super easy to create but add a major wow factor to any lunch!

If you have a small heart, star or numbered cookie cutter you can make this! Simply make a cut out on piece of the bread and put together your sandwich as you usually would. Lastly, fill the cut out spot with sprinkles. (hint: you can use the cutter as a guide to make it less messy) and Viola!

2. Cut the sandwich into the shape of their age

Another fun idea is to use a larger cookie cutter in the number of their new age to cut their sandwich!

3. Shape food into a cupcake

Kiddo not a huge fan of sandwiches? Cut their sides or main protein like cheese and meat into a cake, cupcake or number shape for an equally as cute option!

4. Wrap their food in gift wrap

If you pack your little ones lunch in a lunch bag rather than a bento box, this is perfect! Wrap all their food up as an exciting twist on opening their lunch.

Even if you use a bento box, this is should still be possible for certain items!

5. Use fruit and veggies cutters to make a statement

We love using mini fruit and veggies cutters all throughout the school year. Use them to create a birthday messages or cut out their age!

Go ham – cut your little ones fruit, veggies and cheese in as many fun shapes and numbers as you can.

How cute is this pizza “lunchable” that says “Joey is 6!”?

6. Use candles

While they may not able to light them and blow them out at school, candles are still a fun touch on a birthday lunch!

Mini candles are great for this since they don’t take up too much space. You also don’t need to worry as much about them being too tall to close the lid either!

7. Add sprinkles

While adding unnecessary sugar to your kids lunch might not be an everyday thing, once a year won’t do any harm!

We love to sprinkle sprinkles for an added pop of color! Plus, let’s be honest, what kid does’t love sprinkles?

8. Use birthday cupcake picks

Food picks are one of my school lunch essentials! They always add that extra something to an otherwise boring lunch.

Add a “happy birthday” cupcake topper or food pick and place it just about anywhere it will fit in their lunch! Super cute!

9. Add a special treat

Don’t be afraid to add a treat you maybe normally wouldn’t add! I mean, why not?!

10. Decorate the lunch bag

If there’s room in your little ones lunch bag, decorate it! Add confetti, balloons (blown up just enough to tie), stickers, etc. Go crazy!

11. Top it off with a birthday lunch note

Lastly, time for the final touch!

Personally, I think cute lunch box notes are fun for everyday but BIRTHDAY lunch notes are a truly perfect fit in this case! Whether you print one out or leave a simple handwritten note, both are equally as sweet!

Here are all of my must-have products to truly be able to create any amazing kids school birthday lunch!

Alphabet & Number Cookie Cutters Set

This combo set is perfect for all of your mini numbers and letters to spell out messages. I like this set in particular because the letters and numbers come with the “inside” part of the letter.. Some sets don’t and are just a circle instead an “o” for example.

Happy Birthday Cupcake Toppers/Food Picks

While these happy birthday toppers are extra cute, I don’t recommend buying them on Amazon if you only need one. You can pick up basic happy birthday cupcake toppers are the dollar tree for a dollar instead and save some money!

Number Seven Cookie Cutter 4 Inch

I think it probably goes without saying but this one doesn’t need to be a number 7 lol! Just needs to be a semi large number cookie cutter so that you still get a decent sized sandwich. If you’re working with what you have on hand though, you could totally make multiple mini sandwiches too!

Alphabet Food Picks

Spell out your little ones name, “birthday” or any other fun birthday wish with cute little alphabet food picks!
