Backpack storage at home

Hi friends,

A new school year is almost upon us so it’s time to get organized! Let’s start with backpacks..

I’ll be first to admit it, last year we were not as prepared as I would have liked to be! Backpacks were hung on bar stool chairs. They made our entire kitchen eating area look cluttered and messy.. it was not good!

This year, I was on the hunt for better backpack storage solutions! I spent hours looking for the perfect solution for our home. Today I’m gonna share all the great ideas I came across!

17 Ideas For Backpack Storage At Home

1. Cube organizer into cubby

First, the idea that I’m totally stealing this year! This is simply a 9-cube organizer turned into backpack storage. You can easily recreate this by building the cube organizer per the instructions but just leave out the second layer.

I’m very picky about my cube organizers! We’ve had several from different brands. The larger ones with 13×13 cubes and a strong sturdy frame are the hands down the best. They cheap ones are well.. cheap and break easily. Go with something like this so that can withstand the constant use.

It’s important to check the dimensions for cube storage bins. Different cube organizers have different sized cubicles so you want to make sure you get the right one for your organizer.

2. To-do list above storage

We live for a good to-do list! I highly recommend everyone getting some type of to-do list board for their kiddos to help keep them on track and organized. I also love that the to-do list is in a central place and not tucked away in the bedroom where they have to keep running back and forth!

These are heavy duty hooks that hold up to 14lbs! Perfect for holding backpacks.

3. Hallway storage

This is the perfect storage solution for someone low on wall space or someone who doesn’t want a central location to be overran by backpacks. Keeps your main entry way clear for pretty decorations! This is also awesome since each backpack can be placed near the kids bedroom door.

4. Compact backpack and shoe storage

It’s very aesthetically pleasing for me to see that the folders and baskets take up the perfect amount of space! This storage area also includes folders for papers that need to be signed or homework!

9. Muti-hook command center

Talk about an awesome full on family command center! Cork board for any and all family reminders, card, etc. Three file bins for mail, paperwork that needs to be signed and whatever else. I also love that the hook for moms bag is included in this area but up high where little ones can’t reach!

Now, this is something that is very compact! I love the idea of using vertical spaces! One, you can easily fit this entire thing with up to six backpacks right behind a door if you swap the cork board and clock for a second row of hooks. If you do this, the hooks up high can be for older kids or even moms bag!
